Changes to Scottish Property Law

There have been numerous changes to the law of land and property in Scotland in recent years. Even seemingly simple house sale and purchase transactions have now become more complex.

Stamp Duty Land Tax

When purchasing any property in the UK you are required to pay Stamp Duty Land Tax on the price of the property.

The current levels of Tax are as shown below
Residential
Price not exceeding
£125,000 zero tax
£250,000 1%
£500,000 3%
£500,000+ 4%
Commercial
Price not exceeding
£150,000 zero tax
£250,000 1%
£500,000 3%
£500,000+ 4%
