STAMP DUTY - threshold raised in Budget to £250,000 for First Time Buyers

As from 1st January 2010 the threshold for payment of Stamp Duty Land Tax was lowered to £125,000.

However, the March Budget has raised the threshold to £250,000 for FIRST TIME BUYERS.

NOTE: If two people are purchasing jointly, then BOTH must be First Time Buyers for the exemption to apply.

 

HOME REPORTS

Most people will now be aware that as from 1st December 2008 all sellers of residential property in Scotland are required by law to supply a Home Report. The Home Report must comprise 3 elements:-

  1. a Survey Report
  2. an Energy Performance Certificate
  3. a Questionnaire completed by the Seller
