Busiest Festive Period in a Decade for Highland Property Market

Figures have revealed that the demand for houses in the Highlands reached fever pitch in December with a mini-boom in the property market.

According to figures released by the Highland Solicitors Property Centre (HSPC) the number of sales in the Highlands increased by 40% with the market showing the highest figures in over a decade. There were 112 properties bought in December compared to the 80 sold in the previous year. Indeed, the statistics showed that it had been the busiest December since 2006.

While the December numbers were exceptionally positive, the latter half of 2015 saw continued demand for property in the Highlands. According to the HSPC, the second half of the year was much more positive for the Highland property market.

This was shown by the fact that while property prices in many areas decreased, the decline in property in the Highlands was nominal (less than £400 on average.) As well as this, there was a 3% increase in the number of properties sold in the last half of the year, indicating that December was not merely a one-off for the Highland property market.

Many experts have predicted that the growth in the market and the continued popularity of the Highlands will continue into 2016.
